Cooked meats and poultry cannot be recycled or disposed of in your local council’s kerbside rubbish or recycling bin, box or bag.

Cooked meats and poultry can be recycled in your food waste caddy.

FOOD WASTE FACTS:

Residents across the Liverpool City Region will be provided with food waste caddies and bins for disposing of food waste.
Some residents will have this service in place from April 1st 2026, and some will roll out later in the year. If you have yet to receive information on your new food waste collection, please contact your local council.
Some waste food materials can also be placed into a home composter to make compost.
Cooked food or meat products should be only composted in a wormery.
